    Scratch Build

    From the album: Finished Models

I found this bottle at an antique store and designed a ship to fit into the bottle. The ship is no particular ship but a compilation of many. The ship itself is 3 inches long. The bottle is 5 1/2 long and almost 3/4 inches wide on the outside.

    Thomas W. Lawson and Albatros

From the album: Thomas W. Lawson and Albatros

The Thomas W. Lawson was bottled May of '87. It is a split hull design due to the narrow bottle neck diameter. The masts and rigging were pulled into place one at a time. I had very limited information on it at the time of the build. It suits that long bottle well! The Albatros was bottled June of '86. It's masts were set after the hull was placed in the 'water'. It was scaled down from a kit I built a few years previously. I still have that one, too! I hope to start building more again and wish to improve my skills.

    Cutty Sark

    From the album: Finished Models

This is one of the few that I have kept in my personal collection. This ship was built following one of the many books that I have purchased over the years. It is a rough scale model of the Cutty Sark
