Sojourner
Hi all, I've just found this site and joined up. I've been ship bottling for some 40 years, on and off, and planning to do more now that I'm free from the daily grind! Once I've trawled the forum and got the hang of it, I'll try to post some pics. Incidentally, I'm a member of the EASIB: European Association of Ships in Bottles - we have a biennial gathering, usually at a historic maritime site to meet up and display our models. Sojourner
PS. Wow, this site is the best for posting pics - soooooo simple. Herewith, "Cutty Sark", "Marie Sophie", and a gypsy caravan, with "trick" cork. Sojourner
Thank you for the welcome and kind comments. I must add that the "Marie Sophie" model in the brandy bottle was one of my early efforts, some 40 years ago - unfortunately I used white cotton for the rigging, rather than black and brown. Lesson learned The sails on "Cutty Sark" have been straightened out somewhat since the pic was taken. Alex Bellinger
Welcome. it's good to read members of the European Association get together on a scheduled basis. We should do something like that here, though our geography makes it a little more challenging. I also built a Marie Sophie, though much larger, a number of years ago.
