DSiemens
Just something cool I found thought I would share. I remember seeing some one in another forum using a photo app when taking pictures of his ship that made it look like it was floating. So I dug around and found a water reflection app. Here's my results. Something to try out for fun. Artur
This is not a photomontage. My photo of Paris in 2015. Artur JesseLee, IgorSky, Chasseur and 1 other

Shipbuilder
I just went off and found the "Sqirlz Water Reflections" free app. This is my first attempt using a photo of my Preussen model taken from a low angle. I will now experiment with ripples etc, but this is fantastic, and I am very grateful to you for bringing it to our attention. Shipbuilder
Daniel. What App did you use? The one I did of the Preussen was easy enough to do on my first attempt, but now I find that although I can produce the effect easily enough, I cannot save the file. Have no idea what has gone wrong, but your App is superior anyway! Bob
DSiemens
The app I use is just called water reflection. It's also free. It does the ripple effect then has some filters you can put on the photo for added effect. That's how I got the sepia look.
Shipbuilder
Afraid I couldn't find it. Nearest I got was one that wanted me to download something else as well, that I didn't really want, (something to do with PDF conversion). The one I got this morning no longer works, and I can't find out why! Bob
DSiemens
Are you using an iPhone or android?
DSiemens
I looked mine up again. It's Water Reflection Mirror Image by Dumpling Sandwhich. It's for android. I'm not sure if it works for IPhone.
Shipbuilder
Thanks, I am not using either. Only have a PC, so that appears to be the end of it. I will try and get my PC reflections to work again. Bob
Shipbuilder
I can do it by a long route. I make the image and then capture it with a "screen shot." Then I insert it into a word processing file and crop it down to size, right click on the image and copy. I then open an Adobe Photoshop file and insert the image into it. Then, I can save it as a jpeg that can be put anywhere I like. Here is the results. But there must be an easier way! Bob Edited January 25, 2017 by Shipbuilder Spelling mistakes. exwafoo
try PicMonkey I use it for resizing, you don't even have to download it. It has a pile of effects that I have not explored yet. Alan
Shipbuilder
Just downloaded the Free version of PicMonkey, but afraid it doesn't work. It says it needs another programme to open the files and it will search for them on the internet. Then after a few seconds, it says it can't find them! exwafoo
Bob, Don't download it, you can use it online - just click on 'Edit a photo' when the webpage appears. Wait a few moments while it opens up, then click 'Open' on the menu. Choose ' My Computer' from the dropdown. brows to your photo, select it and click open. You can the edit away using the menu structure on the left. Then save - there are choices for size and so on. Hope this helps Alan
Shipbuilder
I found the PicMonkey you mean, and put the image in OK, but I couldn't find anything connected with water or reflections. Bob
exwafoo
Oh well - as I said - I've only used it for resizing. We'll keep on looking Alan
Shipbuilder
Thanks anyway, it may be useful for other things. I resize via the free programme got from Powertoys. It is just one click, then select small, medium or large and it makes a smaller copy, whilst leaving the original separate! Bob
Shipbuilder
After an awful lot of experimenting, I have now found out how to save the files. Here is a 32 feet to 1 inch (1:384) model of the steel barque East African. Bob JesseLee and DSiemens
Shipbuilder
I have been at it again, and this time, I took an image of my model of the tea clipper Norman Court, under full sail, built to a scale of 32 feet to 1 inch (1:384) and put it in a calm sea, and called it "becalmed!"
